Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
1. Who controls information collected on this website?
Big Adventure Scotland Ltd, trading as Big Scottish Adventure, is the controller for personal information collected directly through bigscottishadventure.co.uk. Company number: SC839256. Email: info@bigscottishadventure.co.uk.
2. Our referral-only booking model
Big Scottish Adventure is an advertising and referral website. We do not accept activity bookings or customer payments. When you follow a FareHarbor booking link, the independent activity provider and FareHarbor collect and use your booking, participant, payment and safety information under their own privacy notices. They act as separate controllers for those purposes.
We do not receive or store your full card details and we do not routinely receive health, waiver or emergency-contact information entered during a provider booking.
3. Information we collect directly
We may collect:
-
your name, email address, telephone number and message when you contact us;
-
marketing preferences where you choose to subscribe;
-
technical information such as IP address, device, browser, pages viewed, referral source, cookie identifiers and consent choices; and
-
limited referral or commission reporting, such as the activity, booking value, date and referral identifier, where supplied by a provider or booking platform. This does not include full card details.
Please do not send payment-card details or unnecessary health information through our general contact form.
4. How we use information and lawful bases
We use personal information to respond to enquiries and take requested steps before a contract; operate, secure and improve the website on the basis of legitimate interests; measure referrals and maintain commission and tax records for legitimate interests and legal obligations; manage consent and cookies for legal obligations and legitimate interests; and send marketing only with consent or another lawful basis permitted by PECR.
5. Who receives information?
We may use Wix and other website-hosting suppliers, email and customer-communication services, analytics and advertising providers where consent permits, accountants, insurers, professional advisers and IT suppliers, and public authorities where legally required. We do not sell personal information.
Following a FareHarbor link sends information directly to FareHarbor and the activity provider. Review their privacy information before submitting booking or sensitive participation details.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use necessary cookies to operate the site and may use analytics or advertising cookies where you consent. You can manage choices through the cookie controls. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.
7. International transfers
Some suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses.
8. Retention
General enquiries are normally kept for up to 12 months. Routine correspondence and complaints may be kept for up to three years or longer where a legal claim remains possible. Referral, commission and tax records may be kept for up to seven years after the relevant financial year. Marketing information is kept until consent is withdrawn or it is no longer needed. Cookie-consent records are kept as necessary to demonstrate and manage choices.
9. Marketing
We send electronic marketing only where you have actively consented or another rule permits it. You can unsubscribe through a message link or by emailing info@bigscottishadventure.co.uk.
10. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to be informed, access, correct, delete, restrict, object, receive portable information, withdraw consent and challenge certain automated decisions. Rights are not absolute and legal exemptions may apply. To make a request, email info@bigscottishadventure.co.uk.
11. Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
12. Security and children
We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards. No internet system is completely secure. A parent, guardian or lead booker should contact the provider directly about a child's booking or participation data.
13. Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our website, suppliers or legal obligations. The latest version and date will be published here.
